The York City police were called to "an unknown problem" in the first block of State Street when they arrived to discover the woman's body, the police said in a release later that morning.
Detectives were notified and are investigating her death as a homicide, according to a release by the department.
An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death, police say.
